Prof. Dr. Beate Lütke is an associate member of the Department of Education and Integration at the BIM.
In 2016, following a positively evaluated junior professorship ('Language Didactics in Multilingual Learning Groups'), she was appointed Professor of Didactics of the German Language and German as a Second Language at the at the Institute for German Language and Linguistics and the Professional School of Education at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her teaching focuses on the training of German language teachers for the secondary school teaching profession and on the specifically on the module 'Language Education and German as a Second Language', which must be completed by all teacher training students at HU.
She studied German and English to become a secondary school teacher and graduated with the First and Second State Examination. In her language didactics doctorate, she investigated grammatical learning processes in multilingual primary school children in language support classes.
Prior to her junior professorship, she worked as a research assistant in a DFG project at the Technical University of Berlin, in which the acquisition of oral language skills of multilingual primary school children was investigated in a longitudinal study. She was also as a teacher for special tasks at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
