Vojin Šerbedžija is since May 2021 a research associate at the research project „From Urban Redevelopment to Immigration Neighborhood? New Perspectives for Peripheral Large Housing Estates“ (StadtumMig) at the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and and Migration Research (BIM).

 


Academic career


 

Vojin Šerbedžija studied Social Sciences and European Studies in Berlin and London.

After completing his Master's degree (2013), he worked in various research projects at the Institut
for Social Sciences (ISW) at the HU.

Thereby, he investigated thematic complexes at the intersection of urban and migration research, among others on transnational relations in the European context, (in)security in public space, and youth and precarity in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

In addition to his academic activities, since 2017 he has been taking care of the teaching department
of Urban and Regional Sociology at ISW, he has been taking care of the office organization.

Moreover, since 2009 he has been in charge of the Book Review Section of the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research (IJURR).
