Vom 9. bis 11. Oktober 2023 lädt das inter- und transdisziplinäre BUA-Verbundforschungsprojekt ›Transforming Solidarities‹ zur internationalen Konferenz – Solidarität in der Migrationsgesellschaft. From October 9-11, 2023, the inter- and transdisciplinary BUA collaborative research project ›Transforming Solidarities‹ invites   you to the international conference - Solidarity in the Migration Society. We are looking forward to welcoming you at the conference and the accompanying exhibition Spaces of Solidarity at the German Architecture Center (DAZ) in Berlin.

Konferenz: Solidarität in der Migrationsgesellschaft / Conference: Solidarity in the Migration Society

Die dreitägige Konferenz beschäftigt sich in den Feldern von Arbeit und Beschäftigung, Wohnen sowie Gesundheit mit den Bedingungen von Solidarität sowie deren praktischen und infrastrukturellen Aushandlungen, Ermöglichungen und Verhinderungen. In der transdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit mit zivilgesellschaftlichen Partner*innen in Berlin als globalem ›Labor‹ der Migrationsgesellschaft haben wir gemeinsam eine Reihe struktureller Verhinderungen und Spannungsfelder von Solidarität identifiziert. Vor diesem Hintergrund laden wir im Rahmen der Konferenz dazu ein, die verschränkten Krisen der Gegenwart im Hinblick auf skalierbare Alternativen zu diskutieren: Welche Infrastrukturen braucht es für eine solidarische Gesellschaft? In welcher Hinsicht stärken neuartige Praxen der Solidarität und gemeinwohlorientierter Formen des Zusammenlebens, die von sozialen Bewegungen und Akteur*innen erprobt werden, die Demokratie ›von unten‹? Welche Modi der Übersetzung existieren zwischen Theorie und Praxis sozialen Wandels, zwischen solidarischen Einzelpraktiken ›im Kleinen‹ und dem gesellschaftlichen Gesamtzusammenhang?

The three-day conference will explore the conditions of solidarity as well as its practical and infrastructural conditions of possibility or limitations in the fields of work and employment, housing and health. In a transdisciplinary collaboration with civil society partners in Berlin as a global ‘laboratory’ of the migration society, we have jointly identified several structural obstacles and areas of tension with respect to solidarity. Against this backdrop, we invite you to discuss the entangled crises of the present about scalable alternatives: What infrastructures are needed for a society based on solidarity? In what ways do novel practices of solidarity and common good-oriented forms of coexistence, put into practice by social movements and actors, strengthen democracy 'from below'? What modes of translation exist between theories and processes of social change, between individual practices of solidarity 'on a small scale' and the overall social context? 

Städtische Interventionen und Ausstellung: Kiosk der Solidarität und Spaces of Solidarity / Urban Interventions and Exhibition: Kiosk of Solidarity and Spaces of Solidarity

Mit, im und um den mobilen Kiosk der Solidarität: bringt ›Transforming Solidarities‹ von Juni bis August 2023 Berliner Initiativen und Nachbarschaften durch vielfältige Interventionen im urbanen Raum zusammen. Die Initiativen verleihen ihren Forderungen für ein solidarisches Leben in der Stadt laut und raumgreifend Ausdruck. Ab 5. Oktober 2023 steht der Kiosk im Zentrum der Ausstellung Spaces of Solidarity am Deutschen Architektur Zentrum (DAZ). Die Ausstellung versammelt Kartierungen und Reflexionen in einer explorativen Assemblage solidarischer Transformationsimpulse aus Berlin und wird bis Ende Dezember 2023 am DAZ zu sehen sein.

From June to August 2023, the mobile Kiosk of Solidarity: [Fill the Gap], ›Transforming Solidarities‹ brings together some of Berlin’s civic initiatives and neighborhoods through varied interventions in urban space. Loud and clear, the involved initiatives will project their demands for urban practices of living together that are grounded in solidarity. From October 5, 2023, the Kiosk will be at the center of the Spaces of Solidarity exhibition at the German Architecture Center (DAZ). The exhibition gathers mappings and reflections in an explorative assemblage of solidarity-based transformative impulses from Berlin. It will be on view at DAZ until the end of December 2023.
