Der Zusammenschluss “Transforming Solidarities” lud im November am HAU zu einem Abend “In Verteidigung der Migrationsgesellschaft” ein: Eine polyphone Intervention, die Widerspruch zu den aktuellen Migrations- und Asylpolitiken kundtat. Als Beitrag zur jährlichen Programmreihe “Claiming Common Spaces” des Bündnisses internationaler Produktionshäuser, die nach der Entstehung 2018 das erste Mal wieder am HAU stattfindet, schlägt “Transforming Solidarities” erneut seine Zelte im HAU auf und initiiert ein “Haus der Solidarität”, um in Diskussionen, Konzerten, Comedy, Spoken Word und Festen dazu einzuladen, einander zuzuhören, zu erinnern und trauern, zu sprechen und vor allem: gemeinsam zu imaginieren.

Wohin führt es uns, wenn wir die Ansteckungsketten von Hass und Herabwürdigung, Antisemitismus und Rassismus, Sexismus und Misogynie, imperialer Lebensweise und kapitalistischer Extraktion erfolgreich unterbrechen? Und was wäre dafür notwendig? Eine Antwort aus Forschung, Zivilgesellschaft, Kunst und Kultur sind Praktiken und Infrastrukturen der Solidarität. Sie machen ein Zusammenleben in der Migrationsgesellschaft denkbar: In der Menschen füreinander, die Welt und den Planeten ein- und aufstehen. Diesen Aufstand gilt es zu stärken. Angesichts der Angriffe auf das Asylrecht, die Migration und das Zusammenleben in Europa, angesichts der Spaltung zwischen “Menschen wie uns” und “den Anderen”, angesichts der schwindenden Infrastrukturen der Daseinsvorsorge und des Gemeinwohls.

Solidarität muss mehr denn je die Diskurse des Hasses und der Lösung sozialer und politischer Probleme durch Abschiebungen und Ausgrenzung überlagern und zurückdrängen. Im “Haus der Solidarität” sollen Wege und Visionen für das Zusammenleben entwickelt werden. Denn dies ist die Herausforderung, vor der die Gesellschaft heute steht: Die Migrationsgesellschaft verteidigen und unsere geteilte Welt neu erfinden. 

Die drei Tage eröffnen mit improvisierter politischer Comedy: die Schauspielerin Thelma Buabeng und die Musikerin Celina Bostic zeigen ihr “Security”-Programm: Zusammen bilden sie ein fiktives Sicherheitsteam, das bei rassistischen, diskriminierenden Situationen auftaucht, eine Spezialeinheit gegen Diskriminierung!

Auch die Musik im “Haus der Solidarität” ist ein Plädoyer für kulturelle Freiheit und Vielfalt. Zwei Konzertabende machen deutlich, wie migrantische Musikkultur längst Teil des Pop-Kanons ist: Der Anadolu-Rock von Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek kombiniert anatolischen Folk mit psychedelischem und progressivem Rock und Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers mit Sängerin Natalie Greffel präsentieren elektrifizierenden Afro-Funk. Am zweiten Abend verbindet die noisige Elektronik von Noufãn Trompete und Farsi-Poesie, Eyal El Wahab setzt sich als El Khat mit der Musiktradition seiner jemenitisch-diasporischen Geschichte auseinander und Gazino Neukölln stellen türkische und arabische Songs in einen queer-feministischen Kontext.

BACKGROUND

In November, the "Transforming Solidarities" association hosted an evening at HAU entitled "In Defense of the Migration Society": a polyphonic intervention that voiced opposition to current migration and asylum policies. As a contribution to the annual program series "Claiming Common Spaces" by the alliance of international production houses, which is taking place at HAU for the first time since its inception in 2018, "Transforming Solidarities" is once again pitching its tents at HAU and initiating a "House of Solidarity" to invite people to listen to each other, to remember and mourn, to speak and, above all, to imagine together in discussions, concerts, comedy, spoken word and festivals.

Where will it take us if we successfully break the chains of contagion of hatred and degradation, anti-Semitism and racism, sexism and misogyny, imperial lifestyles and capitalist extraction? And what would it take? One answer from research, civil society, art and culture are practices and infrastructures of solidarity. They make living together in a migration society conceivable: In which people stand up for each other, the world and the planet. This uprising must be strengthened. In view of the attacks on the right to asylum, migration and coexistence in Europe, in view of the division between "people like us" and "the others", in view of the dwindling infrastructures of public services and the common good.

More than ever, solidarity must override and push back the discourses of hatred and the solution of social and political problems through deportation and exclusion. The "House of Solidarity" aims to develop ways and visions for living together. Because this is the challenge facing society today: Defending the migration society and reinventing our divided world.

The three days open with improvised political comedy: actress Thelma Buabeng and musician Celina Bostic present their "Security" program: together they form a fictitious security team that appears in racist, discriminatory situations, a special unit against discrimination!

The music in the "House of Solidarity" is also a plea for cultural freedom and diversity. Two concert evenings make it clear how migrant music culture has long been part of the pop canon: Anadolu rock by Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek combines Anatolian folk with psychedelic and progressive rock and Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers with singer Natalie Greffel present electrifying Afro-funk. On the second evening, the noisy electronics of Noufãn combine trumpet and Farsi poetry, Eyal El Wahab explores the musical tradition of his Yemeni-Diasporic history as El Khat and Gazino Neukölln place Turkish and Arabic songs in a queer-feminist context.
