Profile
I am a PhD candidate in International Studies at the University of Naples "L'Orientale", where I am also a member of the Centre for Postcolonial and Gender Studies (CSPG). My current ethnographic project investigates the role played by asylum and humanitarianism in the fragmentation and racialization of migrant labour. From a postcolonial perspective, I do analyze how humanitarian dispositions and governmental arrangements are based on, as well as reproduces, racial hierarchies of the human and citizenship, and look at such hierarchies at the intersection of asylum and humanitarianism, on one hand, and labour, on the other. During my stay at BIM, I will conduct an ethnography on the labour trajectories of asylum seekers who live in the Berlin area, with a specific focus on logistics and services. I am particularly interested in postcolonial studies, critical race theory, decolonial and reflexive approaches to research methodology.
